Bring your own Anthropic API key
Reveal Tax can run every LLM call on your own Anthropic account instead of ours. We call this BYO API key. It's available on every tier and doesn't change your subscription price — but it unlocks benefits worth far more than the subscription itself:
- Upgrade the model automatically. Free-tier users get Opus 4.7 (same as Pro). No more Haiku ceiling.
- Truly unlimited re-analyses.On paid tiers the platform cap is your monthly LLM budget — when it's spent, re-analyses pause. BYO removes that ceiling entirely; the only limit becomes your own Anthropic credit.
- No platform overage charges.When your cycle's budget runs out, the platform charges overage to keep running. BYO skips that — you pay Anthropic direct at their published rates, no platform markup.
- Pay Anthropic direct vs. pay platform overage. For complex / high-volume work, Anthropic's direct token rate usually lands lower than our platform overage — so the bigger your usage, the more BYO pulls ahead. This is a trade-off on top of the subscription, not a discount to it: your subscription still covers the product itself.
- Your data, your account. Prompt and response logs live in your own Anthropic usage console alongside your other projects.
- Same subscription price.We don't discount the tier — the subscription pays for the product, not the LLM tokens. You get strictly more.
Set your key under Settings → Anthropic API Key after you sign in. It's stored encrypted and never leaves the platform in plaintext.
Downgrade any time — your data stays put.
Tiers are month-to-month. If you do a tax season on Pro and drop back to Starter (or even Free) after you file, your TaxFiles, documents, audit history, and forms stay exactly where they are — just accessible at whatever tier you're on that month. Come back next year, pick back up where you left off.
